Behaviour Code of Conduct Policy for Joy Through Music

1. Purpose

This Behaviour Policy outlines the expectations for all participants attending Joy Through Music sessions, workshops, and events. Our aim is to create a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and able to enjoy making music together.

2. Our Values

At Joy Through Music, we promote:

  • Respect and kindness

  • Inclusivity and accessibility

  • Encouragement and mutual support

  • Enjoyment and creativity

  • A non-judgemental learning environment

3. Expected Behaviour

All participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with respect, courtesy, and consideration

  • Listen to and follow reasonable instructions from session leaders

  • Support a positive and welcoming group atmosphere

  • Be mindful of different abilities, backgrounds, and experiences

  • Arrive on time and be ready to participate where possible

4. Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours are not acceptable:

  • Disruptive or consistently negative behaviour that impacts others

  • Bullying, harassment, or intimidation of any kind

  • Discriminatory language or actions (including relating to race, gender, disability, sexuality, religion, or age)

  • Aggressive, threatening, or abusive behaviour

  • Damage to property or equipment

5. Managing Behaviour

If behaviour falls below expected standards, we will:

  1. Address the issue informally and respectfully

  2. Provide a clear explanation of expectations

  3. Offer support to improve the situation where appropriate

If behaviour does not improve, we may:

  • Issue a formal warning

  • Ask the individual to leave a session

  • Refuse future participation in our activities

6. Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. Any concerns about safety or wellbeing will be taken seriously and handled in line with appropriate safeguarding procedures.

7. Responsibility

Participants are responsible for their own behaviour. For participants under 18, parents or guardians remain responsible for ensuring appropriate conduct.

8. Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behaviour that causes concern, please speak to the session leader or contact us directly. All concerns will be treated seriously and handled with sensitivity.

9. Agreement

By attending Joy Through Music sessions or events, you agree to follow this Behaviour Policy and contribute to a positive and respectful environment for all.
